Why do I need SEO in Baltimore?
Every day, millions of people use Google search to find things they need. Giving your business the ability to rank highly in these results gives you the opportunity to expand your growth to new audiences and grow completely organically.
Without proper SEO in Baltimore, your competitors will rank higher than you, and your potential customers will find them before they find you.

What does SEO entail?
At Lyons Web Solutions we use industry best practices to help ensure maximum visibility for your website. We rank your site using keywords relevant to your industry and then write on-page optimization for those keywords. This includes optimization of meta tags, keyword-based link building, internal link structure, and site content. We perform a full analysis of your competitor’s domain and then optimize your site.
During the optimization process we perform a detailed study of your site. We do a thorough keyword study to find the best keywords to rank your site in the Baltimore, Maryland area. We ensure that every page includes well-researched keywords to help attract your target audience.
How will I stay informed of progress?
Using analytics tools we monitor your site’s performance and provide you with monthly updates. You will know your site’s total traffic, how many incoming links there are, how many unique clicks it has received, and much more. This allows us to gain insight into what content is doing well and what needs to be improved.
The vast world of SEO is a lot to take in, but we will be here to break down the terminology, explain the metrics, and help you understand the roadmap for your Baltimore SEO campaign.
What should you do on your Google Business Profile every month?
About twenty minutes a month: two to four posts scheduled in one sitting, two fresh photos of real work, a reply to every review inside 48 hours, and two review requests sent to real customers. That is the whole routine, and it is the one we run for Baltimore clients. Everything on it is done from business.google.com, since the old per-profile interface was retired.
| Task |
How often |
Why |
| Schedule 2 to 4 posts in one sitting |
Monthly, batched |
Recent work visible to anyone comparing you. Scheduling means you are not relying on memory. |
| Upload 2 photos of actual work |
Monthly |
Real photos, not stock. Ask Maps and customers both read them. |
| Ask 2 customers for a review |
Monthly, no exceptions |
Recency is now the strongest single review factor. The highest-value item on the list. |
| Reply to every review inside 48 hours |
As they arrive |
Owner response rate is weighted heavily, and a reply is read by every future customer. |
| Check your hours, including holidays |
Monthly, and before every holiday |
Wrong hours produce a wasted trip and a one-star review. The cheapest mistake on this list to avoid. |
| Re-read your primary and secondary categories |
Quarterly |
Category is one of the strongest relevance signals, and most people set it once and never revisit it. |
| Check your name, address and phone against your top listings |
Twice a year |
Inconsistent details weaken the entity. Start with your own website, then the big directories. |
| Confirm your website answers your most-asked questions |
Quarterly |
Since Q&A ended, your site is where the answers have to live for Ask Maps to find them. |
Q&A is gone. Google discontinued Business Profile Q&A on 3 November 2025 and replaced it with Ask Maps on 12 March 2026: a Gemini-powered answer assembled in real time from your profile, your reviews, your photos and your website. There is no longer a box to write answers in. The fix is to make sure the answers exist in the sources Ask Maps reads, which means your site, your services and your reviews.
Review recency has overtaken review count. In the 2026 Whitespark survey it came out as the single strongest individual factor, with owner response rate close behind. Twelve reviews with three from this quarter now read better than forty with the newest eighteen months old, which is why two requests a month is on the list and a one-off review drive is not.
Posts do not move rankings. A controlled study across 441 keywords over nine weeks found no ranking movement attributable to posting. They still earn their place: someone comparing three contractors sees recent work on one profile and nothing since 2024 on the others, Ask Maps reads them, and profiles that go dormant lose impressions. Post because a person will read it.
The profile is the biggest single lever, and you control it. Google Business Profile signals carry roughly 32% of local pack influence in the most useful 2026 breakdown, ahead of on-page signals at 19% and reviews at 16%. Citations, which agencies have historically sold a great deal of, come last at 7%.
Not on the list: keyword-stuffing your business name, buying citations in bulk, seeding your own Q&A, or filtering who you ask for a review. The first two are against Google’s guidelines, the third is no longer possible, and the fourth is review gating, which can cost you every review you have. Running this routine, keeping reviews coming in and replied to, and reporting what it produced in calls and direction requests is part of the local search work on this page, and the same routine runs across our Maryland SEO work.
