What counts

$500 for each new website we build

The reward is for websites: a business new to us that hires us to design and build its site. One reward per business, paid once.

Counts

The starter website or a custom build, for a business that isn’t already a client and hasn’t already been in touch with us about a website.

Doesn't count

Hosting for a site someone else built, SEO, business email, or store management on their own. We are glad to hear about these, but the reward is for website builds.

When the website goes live and the build is paid in full. By Zelle or check, with a W-9 on file before your first payment.

If you work with small businesses, as an accountant, bookkeeper, insurance agent, printer, or photographer, you likely hear about websites that need help.

A business getting by on a Facebook page or word of mouth that needs a real site on its own domain.

The best referral is an owner who already knows the website needs work.

Your details first, then the business’s. Please check with the business before you send this, so our call is expected. Sending a referral costs nothing, for you or for them.


How much is the referral reward?

$500 for each business you refer that hires us to build a new website, paid once the site goes live and the build is paid in full. There is no limit on how many businesses you refer.

What counts as a referral?

A business that is new to us and hires us to design and build its website, either the starter website or a custom build. The business has to come to us through you: you send us its details with the form on this page, or the business names you when it first contacts us.

What doesn’t earn the reward?

Work that isn’t a new website build: hosting for a site someone else built, SEO, business email, domains, or store management on their own. A business that is already a client, or was already in touch with us about a website before your referral, doesn’t count either.

When the referred business’s website goes live and its build is paid in full. We pay by Zelle or check, once per business.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Your first referral is your sign-up. Before we send your first payment, we ask for a completed IRS Form W-9.

Can current clients refer businesses?

Yes. Current clients earn the same $500, paid the same way.

What if the business takes a while to decide?

The referral still counts if the business hires us to build its website within 12 months of your referral.

What if two people refer the same business?

The reward goes to the first referral we receive for that business.

Do I have to sell anything?

No. Make the introduction, and we handle every conversation about price and scope. Please don’t promise prices or terms on our behalf; we quote every website ourselves, and the starter website is described on our web design page.

Should the business know I’m referring it?

Yes. Please check that the business is happy for us to get in touch before you send its details. If you recommend us publicly, such as in a social media post, mention that you earn a referral reward.

Is the reward taxable?

Referral rewards are income to you. We ask for a W-9 before the first payment and issue a Form 1099-NEC when a year’s rewards reach the IRS reporting threshold.

Who can be a referral partner?

Anyone 18 or older in the US: clients, friends of the business, and professionals who work with small businesses. You can’t refer your own business, or a business you own part of.

Can the referral program change?

We may change or end the referral program at any time. A referral we have already received keeps the terms that were on this page when you sent it.

Can I refer a business outside Maryland?

Yes. Lyons Web Solutions is based in Highland, in Howard County, Maryland, and builds websites for businesses across the US, so the business can be anywhere in the country.
